Since the emergence of COVID-19, Cosey Homes Chartered Surveyors has closely monitored the situation to assess the impact on our business, our customers and our colleagues.
Cosey Homes are committed to protecting the interests of our clients, colleagues and friends, and as this unprecedented situation progressed there was a clear need to protect the safety of everyone we deal with and come into contact with in our everyday operations.
Our operation involves sending surveyors out to property where we do not know the health, history or personal circumstances of the occupiers. In addition, surveyors must visit estate agents to collect keys. These activities contribute to social contact where the virus can spread, putting the people involved and the wider community at risk of COVID-19. In addition, our colleagues who work in head office are working in close proximity along with our property management services which also involves visitations to occupied property and accompanied visitations for viewings.
On the 23rd March, the government announced a policy which effectively enforced a ‘lockdown’. They advised the public to stay at home. They advised not to leave your house for anything which is not essential, such as to get medicine, food, or to carry out essential work ‘key workers’.
Soon after, they also advised people to put house moves on hold until further notice, effectively putting property transactions and the supporting industries on hold.
These circumstances would collectively make it very difficult for us to reasonably carry out any services. Considering these important factors, on the 23rd March we made the decision the temporarily suspend all operations until restrictions are lifted, and our sector is advised we can safely return to work.
To clarify, we will not be carrying out any Surveys (visitation to occupied or unoccupied property) during this period.
When we first decided to suspend operations, we rescheduled all the appointments which were already scheduled. You will have been notified of this change. As there is still uncertainty of when the lockdown will be lifted, we are now advising all appointments are suspended until our sector can safely return to work in line with government recommendations. You will not lose your appointment slot despite the date being pushed back. Appointments will be rescheduled for the earliest possible time when surveyors can return to work. Unfortunately, we cannot provide a date at this time, as the government have not yet given an end date to the restrictions.
We are aware that most property transactions are on hold, but still pending, and clients should be confident that things will resume as normal when the lockdown is lifted.
We are committed to working with all our clients to ensure they receive the best possible service regardless of how this changes their circumstances. We will work with you to ensure you are not disadvantaged as a result of our closure and will be there for you as you move forward when it is safe to do so
These are truly unprecedented times. Disruption to our everyday lives and our future plans is unavoidable. We must all be prepared to make some sacrifices to protect others. We must put the safety of our families, friends’, colleagues and the wider community before anything else and ensure we protect the most vulnerable in our society.
We thank you for your patience and understanding.
Stay safe. Stay at Home.
